How did you build your vintage card collection?  Did you buy packs and build sets?  Most youngsters that grew up before the new millennium remember buying packs, chewing the gum (yes, they put gum in the packs with the cards) and trading with their friends.  There wasn’t an Internet or eBay or even that many card shows or conventions.  Recently, we were contacted by a gentleman who found us through our JustCollect.com website on the Internet. He was interested in selling his 1958 Topps Baseball Collection to us and how he assembled his

As you know, we attended the National two weeks ago, and it was a great success. Not only was it great for business, but we were able to meet a lot of you there, where we shared stories, got feedback, and even bought some collections – which was nice. I was surprised again last week when a successful self-employed businessman from suburban Philadelphia called us about buying his card collection. I presumed I’d be looking at a group of old baseball and football cards, but what he was offering was an overwhelming collection of vintage hockey sets and cards.

One topic of conversation that invites lots of opinions is that of, what is a “pure” set? I would like to offer up another entry into the discussion of cards that feature more photography and fewer graphics in their design. Some sets that collectors define as “Pure” include the 1948 and 1949

The baseball and football cards found in this recently acquired collection elicits the loudest of cheers from the collector in me. There just aren't enough adjectives to do them justice - they are that good! “Gorgeous," “beautiful,” and “incredible” will have to suffice for now in describing the plethora of vintage Bowman, Topps and Fleer sets hailing from the Tar Heel state. One of our card specialists, Scott Alpaugh, returned to the office this week with a high quality abundance of cards from a collection amassed by a retiree, who relocated to the Appalachian region from California. This collector, assembling
