The South Jersey Vintage Set Collection

In early September, we were contacted by a gentleman from South New Jersey who wanted to sell his entire baseball card and memorabilia collection. The collection consisted of vintage card sets, yearbooks, programs, Super Bowl tickets, World Series tickets, autographed baseballs, and some rare autographed cuts. And when I say vintage sets, it wasn’t just a few sets from the late 1970s. It was dozens of sets, ranging  from the 1930s through the 1970s, of all sports. You name it, he had it… it was one of the nicest collections we’ve ever

He's the greatest to ever play the game, and his rookie is one of the most iconic and sought after cards ever produced. Jordan's rookie card did not disappoint when it debuted 29 years ago, and is still going strong today. It features a poster-like image of MJ soaring over a defender, surrounded by a bold red-white-and-blue border. The aesthetics alone of this card are breath taking. But when you pair it's beauty with the incredible demand, you reach unparalleled levels. That is even truer when dealing with high grade examples, as we've seen auction prices now double since the late 2000's. This

Just Collect Scores Three Collections In One Day Yesterday was incredible. But it didn’t start out that way. It had rained the night before, making the morning commute terrible, as the roads were still wet and covered with heavy fog - traffic was bumper-to-bumper all the way in. Wednesday’s at the office are always slow, coming off the two day rush from the weekend auctions, so that adds to mundane nature. Thursdays is a weekly auction night for us, so we spend the whole day gearing up for that. Fridays are always insane, as we make sure everything is ready to

About a month ago, we had a collector reach to us, asking to get an appraisal on his collection. He was a little unsure if he actually wanted to sell, as he was unaware if the current value of his collection outweighed his emotional attachment to the cards - something we run into all the time. He had spent the latter part of his childhood assembling this fantastic group of baseball and basketball partial-sets, while also collecting the game's brightest stars from each era. The collection included runs from the late 1960's to the late 1970's

1970 Topps Basketball Cards

Although this isn't the greatest collection we've ever purchased, it's actually quite interesting on how we acquired these cards. Not only because whom we purchased them from, but also how they were found and kept. A few weeks ago, we met up with a non-sports dealer that we have done tons of business with in the past. He had reached out to us because he had a fresh collection of 1970 Topps Basketball cards, "Tall Boys", that he had actually gotten from another non-sports collector. Weird, right? So the back story was
